SPONSORSHIP TO RAISE THE LEVEL OF HOCKEY WITHIN SCOTTISH SCHOOLS AND BETTER IDENTIFY POTENTIAL PROFESSIONAL TALENT

Edinburgh, UK – 31 May, 2016 – Edinburgh-based coaching technology specialists, Coach Logic, has announced its title sponsorship of the Schools Hockey League – Scotland’s first competitive league in schools Hockey.

The Coach Logic Hockey League will include 16 schools participating in the girls’ leagues and seven for the boys. In total, over 700 children across 45 teams will be competing throughout Scotland as it promises to be one of the biggest leagues of its type in the UK. The Coach Logic Hockey League has been formed to elevate the level of competition for young players encouraging them to train with greater focus and motivation. The League will also serve to advance the profile of school hockey as well as streamline the process for School and Scottish Hockey officials to assess talented individuals.

Coach Logic provides sports teams with their own easy-to-use online video analysis and communication platform. The platform was first developed for school sport and allows players and staff to login, upload, analyse and discuss match video as well as manage all aspects of the team from player availability and fitness objectives to sharing resources and more. Coach Logic will provide the League with two central hubs to support the boys and girls senior leagues. School and Scottish Hockey officials will have direct access to these hubs to streamline the sharing of match video and improve talent identification.

"This new schools league structure in Scotland is tremendously exciting as it should provide a real competitive element to matches and training throughout the school season. I’m delighted to have Coach Logic as our sponsor to help promote our first year of this competition,” explains Mike Leonard, Director of Hockey at George Watsons College and creator of the Schools Hockey League.

He continues, “Coach Logic gives players and coaches a chance to watch, review and improve their performance. More and more people are using video feedback as a coaching aid as it can very quickly help players to understand the basic fundamentals of specific structures, tactics and techniques ultimately improving their knowledge of the sport as well as their performance".

Mark Cairns, Co-Founder, Coach Logic adds, "It's great to be in a position to help improve Scottish Hockey. Mike Leonard has done a tremendous job putting these leagues together and we are all very excited about the impact on performance levels across schools hockey that this League can drive. If Coach Logic can add to the overall impact then that's fantastic."

Coach Logic is currently being used by several University and club hockey teams across the UK including Marlborough College, Birmingham University, Loughborough University, Holcombe Hockey, Surbiton Hockey and Grange Hockey.
