Luke currently plays his rugby as a prop, he can cover both sides of the scrum, for Bon-y-maen FirstXV and Swansea University. He would regard himself as a ball-playing prop, but first and foremost acknowledges “I am a strong scrummager who loves to work.”

He has a number of representative honours in Wales, but identifies his greatest moment being when he played for Swansea University at the Millennium Stadium and won the Varsity Cup against Cardiff University.

Luke is keen to emphasise his work rate saying “No part of the game is a rest period, there is always something that can be done whether its making a tackle, hitting a ruck, talking in defence, beating your opposite number or the next scrum or line out.”

Standing at 1.88m and weighing 115kg, Luke is certainly a force to be reckoned with, and it is this, coupled with his aforementioned work rate, that has seen him selected for a number of representative teams that include The Ospreys at Under 16, 18 & 20 level.

Another significant achievement came for Luke at the end of season 2011-12 when he was honoured to receive both players-player and supporters-player of the year award for his club Bon-y-maen RFC.

Luke also identifies the importance of fitness for those playing the game, and although he identifies that there is always room for improvement, he would regard himself as having the suitable fitness attributes for a prop in today’s game. He credits his high levels of fitness to his desire and the extra knowledge he has gained as a Personal Trainer.

Having also spent time in Australia and South Africa, Luke is keen to further his international rugby experiences and says “I want to experience being part of a professional environment and being exposed to the highest level of coaching, and where better to do it than at the Inside Running Academy in New Zealand, the country widely regarded as the standard bearer of world rugby."
