The past few months have allowed us to catch up with many school coaches who've unfortunately had their playing seasons cut short. On the plus side, they've shared with us some really innovative ways they are engaging pupils in different online tasks and keeping the learning going. As we get prepared for the new normal, why not borrow one of the ideas below.
Abingdon Rugby - Analysing Ben Earl's Performance
Abingdon School asked their rugby pupils to analyse the performance of Saracens' Ben Earl in a match against Racing 92 using Coach Logic. Following this, the pupils were invited onto a call with Ben himself who chatted through the moments in the game the pupils had identified for discussion. The feedback was the boys loved the experience and Ben was impressed with the quality of noticing and conversation that followed.
Stockport Grammar - Live Community Collaborative Analysis
Lockdown has given Hugo Corbett, Head of Rugby at Stockport Grammar, the perfect opportunity to check out Coach Logic. He has uploaded match footage from previous seasons to complete collaborative analysis sessions online. The most recent session involved current pupils discussing past matches with former school captians John and Patrick Chatterton.
Hampton School - Simon Amor Attack Webinar
Sean Thompson (DOR) set up a webinar with England Rugby’s attack coach Simon Amor. Simon is an Old Hamptonian and discussed his attack principles with the school players, using clips created and presented on their Coach Logic platform. It’s been great to see how quickly Sean has managed to get the players engaged since signing up to Coach Logic only 3 weeks ago! Mark will be recording a catch-up with Matt (Abingdon), Hugo (Stockport) and Sean (Hampton) later this week, so stay tuned.
Sedbergh School: Webinar Series
Sedbergh School have introduced a new webinar series which takes place every Monday evening at 7PM UK time. Last week's webinar hosted former GB Hockey player and Olympic Gold Medalist Crista Cullen alongside Gary Johnson, who heads up the England Hockey Performance Centre. It was a great insight into what it takes to reach the top of your game. You can watch a recording of the webinar via The Magic Academy Community platform.
